15 Best Books For Business, Personal Growth and Spiritual Equipping

Did you know there is no real ‘holding’ status?  There is either life or death, growth or decay. The very nature of being alive is that something is happening. So which side are you living in?

Recently this has hit home to me in a strong way.

It’s easy to live our lives as if tomorrow will automatically come. How many times have you said ‘I’ll get to that tomorrow’, ‘I’ll visit them another time’ or ‘I wish I had….’? If you’re like me.. too many times.

Like when my father passed away I couldn’t help but think that I wished I’d visited a few more times in the months before.

When my cousins daughter was murdered I was sad that I missed the opportunity to know her.

The time(s) I kept thinking of a friend of mine but didn’t do anything about it, only to find out that they had been praying for someone to help them but no one had come. We all have these things happen to us.

Learning To Use Time Wisely

But over the years I’ve been in training to listen when God is speaking. To respond to the thoughts that come or the dreams in the night. To give money when I sense the need or to pick up the phone when a person crosses my mind.  I’ve proven to myself time and time again that when I listen and act, incredible things can happen.

God is looking to give success and blessing but He also needs people He can trust, that can handle it. The maturing in our life, skills, faith and thinking only happen when we are intentional about it.

James Allen, in the book ‘As a Man Thinketh’ wrote:

‘People are anxious to improve their circumstances
but are unwilling to improve themselves;
they therefore remain bound’.

I don’t know about you but that statement hit me right between the eyes.

We all want things to change and to have more money. More quality time and freedom. We want this problem sorted, and that issue dealt with. But how many of us look inside and say I need to start within me to sort this out? It takes a person who is focused on growing up into all that God has designed.

The History of Successful People Always Involves Books

I’ve always been a reader of books.  When I got saved at age 21 I threw myself into understanding what the Gospel really was. I wanted to know who Jesus really is and how do you get this power so you can do what He did. My bookshelves are filled with biographies, teaching and research.

When I started my business I wanted to know it all. I study marketing, strategies and human behaviour all the time.

The one time I hit bottom and was totally miserable was when I stopped focusing on growth and started looking only at myself. All I could see was what I didn’t have and was missing out on. I wasted a couple of years in that state. So many people do.

But one day God got in my ear. It was actually a powerful rebuke. Like a kick up the backside from your dad.  He said ‘YOU DECIDE’. Me? I get to decide. To live powerless and miserable, or powerful and joyful. Be profitable and purposeful. I could be a light to the world or the coin hidden in the dirt like the man with the one talent.

You’ll Be Surprised Where Your Learning Can Take You

So I decided. I got out my bible – my number one go-to book, always. All my books, trainings and old tapes were put into use. The focus shifted and I re-calibrated to faith, growth and impact – and I haven’t looked back since. That was 2002.

Since then I’ve travelled from Africa to the Pacific Islands for the Gospel, I’ve had 3 online businesses, been mentored by world leaders and raised 3 amazing kids with my husband. It’s what I bring to every coaching relationship, training event and casual conversation. The transformational power of the gospel at work and the intention of growth.

The bible tells us to ‘watch and pray’, right? We don’t know the hour or the time when He is coming, so work while it’s day. It’s time for you to have influence, income and impact to make a difference.

So don’t put off your dreams, your desires and those things that are burning in your belly. Don’t let fear, uncertainty, doubt or busy-i-ness be an excuse why you weren’t a person who acted out their faith!

Here is a glimpse into my library of books, things that I am recommending you consider in your journey of growth. These links do take you to Amazon (so if you do get them through that link I can make a little income) but I own each one, they are well-read, written all over and constantly referred to. I hope they bless you the same way.

Now, I certainly don’t expect you to run out and buy all of them immediately – it would be awesome if you did, but hey… who does that!

But I would recommend that you always make time for reading – and if you don’t like physically reading, get the audio book.

Remember, faith comes by hearing.

To stimulate yourself, to rise up and become who you’re designed to be – it’s time to stir up yourself up.
